Game 1 - Under 18

Under 18 v U19 Alberta regional select team

What a fantastic game of rugby. The host team were preparing for the National finals in a weeks time and were made up of the best U19 players in the region. They are at the pinnacle of their season and the MTS boys hadn't played since Feb but you wouldn't know that by how well we played.

MTS dominated possession throughout the first half but could only manage 1 try through Dave Pennie and allowed the Alberta side to score a breakaway try to leave the halftime score 5-7 to Alberta.
MTS continued to keep hold of the ball and took the lead when Patrick Hagerty crashed over the line to lead 12-7. Once again the Alberta side struck back scoring out wide to tie the game at 12-12. A lineout close to the lone set up a number of rucks and Like Pearson used his strength to get over the line to make the score 17-12.  In the last 5 mins of the game the heat and the intensity of the game had got to our boys with the opponents scoring 2 late tries out wide to leave the final score 24-17.

Really proud of the boys as every Year 12 boy played a quarter of the game. Most notably Ben Neale has a great game on the wing and I seen Ollie Morris play rugby for the first time since I arrived at the school. A great game of rugby which was fully enjoyed by everyone and the result certainly did not reflect the game.
